Before joining Circu Li-ion, Thibaud recently graduated with a mechanical engineering degree from ENIM (École Nationale d’Ingénieurs de Metz). His professional journey

started at Circu Li-ion, where he joined as an intern at the very end of his studies — right at the dawn of the company’s ambitious adventure.
What’s Thibaud’s role at Circu Li-ion?
Tibaud: “I started at Circu Li-ion in February 2022 as an intern. Over the past three years, I have grown alongside the company, engaging in a wide range of projects, all centered around mechanical engineering challenges. The breadth of my experience here has been incredible — from hands-on technical tasks to conceptualizing new solutions.
Thanks to the skills I have developed, my role has naturally evolved towards research and development. Today, I focus on designing the specialized tools and functionalities our robots require to execute automated disassembly on a variety of battery components.
This means working on complex systems that combine technologies like unscrewing mechanisms, vacuum generators, and gripping tools. One of the biggest challenges is to rapidly develop diverse technical capabilities and integrate them seamlessly, to push the limits of automation on our machines.”
What motivated you to join Circu Li-ion?
Thibaud: “The driving force for me was the challenge. When I arrived in early 2022, everything was in its infancy — lots of wild ideas, unknowns, and a real need for innovation and problem-solving. It was the perfect environment for someone like me who thrives on learning and tackling new obstacles every day.
Today, Circu Li-ion has grown into a vibrant and dynamic company, with countless opportunities to learn, experiment, and grow. This fast-paced and evolving setting motivates me to continue pushing boundaries and developing innovative solutions that help the team realize our mission: making battery recycling smarter, more efficient, and ultimately more sustainable.”
Cheers for sharing, Thibaud. Let's boost some battery value!
